A unique clay studio and gallery, Clayworks is located in Midtown Memphis near the intersections of Cooper and Peabody. Clayworks is owned and operated by Patricia Schwarz, who shares her 25 years of experience as a potter with visitors and students. The Gallery displays work by local artists that is also available for purchase. Depending on the featured artist(s), visitors can find works in almost any media including ceramics, photography, textiles, jewelry and water color.  Check the Art Gallery page for more information on the currently featured work.

The Clay Studio is the heart of Clayworks. The studio offers pottery lessons, studio time (by the hour), low fire kiln firing (by the piece) as well as a place for pottery enthusiasts to gather, discuss and learn from each other.  The studio has five Lockerbie kick wheels, and five electric wheels.  Two electric kilns are used for bisque and low firing.  Sawdust trash can firing adds a unique option for finishing work.

Studio time and by the piece firing arrangements are worked out between Patricia and the student. Pottery Lessons are available in a series of seven classes as well as through private instruction.  See the Pottery Lessons page for more detailed information about lessons at Clayworks
