Anyone interested in lessons can register by stopping by the studio or by contacting Patricia at the telephone number or email address provided above.  The Calendar portion of this web site will give you the latest studio and class schedule.  If the established class schedule does not work for you, Clayworks has many alternative offerings; including private lessons, small group instruction, and personalized classes for children.

Pottery lessons for beginning potters follow a similar class structure and price. The cost of each seven week session is $200.  This fee  is subject to change and will be confirmed at the time of registration.  The cost includes personal instruction (class size restricted to 10 students), clay, a selection of the most dependable food safe glazes (in six basic colors) and firing.  Most students prefer to separately purchase tools and additional glaze colors.  Tools and additional glazes are available for purchase at Clayworks.  Mastercard and Visa are accepted and gift certificates are available as well.

The first of the seven (two and one half hours each) class sessions teaches the fundamentals of hand building with clay.  This includes pinched pots, coil, and slab building.  The second class introduces the thrill of throwing vessels on a potter's wheel.  Subsequent classes are used by the students to improve upon any of the above pottery techniques with the supervision of the instructor.  The final class is dedicated to glazing of finished pieces.  Students return at a later date to pick up their final glaze fired pieces.

Shown in the two photos above is a traditional smoke firing done at Clayworks, a decoprative method which produces unique works with warm blacks and smoky greys.  This method of firing is also available to students
